The town is experiencing something  of a boom as the Kimberley region becomes better known.

Broome is often called the gateway to the Kimberley. Broome was founded as a pearling port over a century ago and as a result, has become a melting pot of many nationalities.

If you like to unwind, Broome is your ideal holiday. Stroll on the world famous twenty two kilometres of pristine white sand that is Cable Beach, swim in the clear waters of the Indian Ocean and at the end of the day, take in another glorious sunset. Let yourself go, and Broome promises to reward you with a holiday experience like no other.

As Broome has a history of pearl farming it is possible to see working pearl farms in action and to even purchase the end product! Even today, the town of Broome is still one of the world's major pearling centres.

Boat, plane, fishing, 4WD, horse and even camel and hovercraft excursions can all be taken from Broome into some stunning national parks, coral reefs and coastal scenery. It is also possible to see dinosaur footprints nearby when the tidal conditions oblige.

The Broome Bird Observatory is one of the top birdwatching spots in the world. From September to March each year, around 800,000 migratory shorebirds from Siberia visit the area on the shores of Roebuck Bay.
